In April 2025, LONGi made a groundbreaking announcement at its Wuhu base in Anhui Province, China, showcasing its Hybrid Interdigitated-Back-Contact (HIBC) crystalline silicon solar cell with an impressive efficiency of 27.81%. This achievement not only pushed the boundaries of monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic cells but also opened a new path for improving the power density of photovoltaic modules. The HIBC cell, which was independently developed by LONGI’s Central Research Institute, boasts a dual breakthrough in optical management and carrier transport efficiency. This innovative design enables the efficient transfer of photons and charge carriers, leading to a significant increase in power output.
